This is me. Uniquely UIC.

What would you say to someone interested in attending?

Where else will you find one of the most diverse campuses at one of the best research universities, in a place like Chicago? Students here come from all over the world. There’s easy access to downtown, public transportation, and opportunities in the city. For years UIC has been ranked in the top public universities in the country. Students, staff, and faculty work together to help each other and make everyone feel at home!

What is the best way to find friends at UIC or become part of a community?

Get involved in as many things as you can. Whether playing on a club sports teams, joining a fraternity or sorority, volunteering, attending campus events, exploring different clubs, or more! The options are limitless, and these are all great ways to meet new people, share experiences, and feel at home while at UIC. Whatever you choose, don’t be afraid to get out of your comfort zone!

What inspired you to pursue your degree or select your major?

Growing up, I always had a passion for driving change and creating positive impacts for all people. As I got older, I saw first-hand, as a Black woman, the inequities and the disadvantages that people face. I had all these passions, but I couldn’t find a career path, a major, or an area that encompassed all of that. After taking my first public health class, it clicked, and I realized that I could focus my passion into solving problems in this field.

You make us uniquely UIC.

Everyone has a story that makes them a unique part of UIC.
